What can I say, our day was absolutely perfect. I'm sure some people might find that nauseating, but there really is no other word to describe it. To be honest the whole day was a blur (as many people warned) and flowed seamlessly from one thing into the next. The most intimate and memorable part for me is when Andrew finally saw me for the first time as I was walking down the aisle. We decided to not have our photos taken together before the ceremony so that we could share that experience together. The moment our eyes locked, we lost it! The tears started flowing and all I remember during the entire ceremony is quietly whispering "breath" to each other to prevent us from hyperventilating. Apparently our tears started a trend and everyone, even those that say they don't cry at weddings, were touched by the moment. Every detail of our wedding had "us" written all over it — including Andrew's homebrew that he made for the reception. There really isn't anything I would've changed. It was perfect.

Advice to those getting engaged: Wedding planning is overwhelming and it really does consume your life from the time you start planning to the end of the big day. Encourage each other and make sure each of your voices are heard throughout the process. I guarantee that all the hard work you pour into planning the big day will make it even more special than you can imagine. Let your love shine!

Umbrella Brides

This past week Laura posted a little bribe on Facebook. We've been getting great photos sent to us from our prom customers (check them out!) and they are so much fun to see and share that it made us greedy for some photos from our brides. So Laura offered a fun umbrella to any of our brides from over the past 15 years to post a picture and they've started to trickle in. What fun! And what incredibly beautiful brides and weddings we've had the honor of being a part of. Nearly anyone can enjoy a well photographed model in a gorgeous gown, but those images pale in comparison to real brides on their wedding day. Enjoy a few of the submissions we've received so far, visit our Facebook for more and send us yours if you haven't already!

Clearly this is not from Anne's wedding day, but it was from another awesome day - the day she became our bride! Anne found her perfect gown at a trunk show while we were still located in Janesville.

Janet Nelson Kumar to the rescue!

We continually talk about how choosy we are when deciding which designers to represent in our edited collection. Being choosy means that we can deliver certain things and assurances that other shops simply cannot. It also means that we work with the very best of the best. A recent situation highlighted this very clearly.

Less than two weeks ago, on Wednesday, March 16, a bride contacted us with a problem and she wondered if we could help her out. Tammy had visited our store when she was shopping for a bridal gown but decided to purchase her gown online instead. Unfortunately, her online gown "fell through" and I honestly do not know the circumstances to tell you why. But the great part of this story is that she had really liked one of our gowns, "Whisper" by Janet Nelson Kumar, and she wondered if it was still possible to get it in time for her wedding which was just NINE DAYS away! Did I mention that she got married this last Friday? Impossible, right? Wrong. Janet was able to make a custom gown in a single week - it was delivered last Thursday! And then remarkable Joyce, of Bridals by Joyce, was able to complete Tammy's alterations in less than a day so she was able to confidently walk down the aisle in a completely beautiful, completely custom bridal gown. While this isn't the first time one of our amazing designers has come through with a miracle, in fact each of them has performed miracles on behalf of our customers, we are ever amazed at what they can accomplish. Thank you Janet and congratulations Tammy! And thank you for letting us share your story!

This is Tammy looking beautiful in her gown that was ordered just one week before this photo!

Offbeat and off-the-charts awesome!

We love it when our brides trust themselves enough to plan their wedding with authenticity and personality. Jessica and Chris certainly did just that. Offbeat Bride put together a marvelous feature on their cinematic ceremony - a twist that's close to our hearts! Congratulations you two!!

DuBois Formalwear + Premiere Couture = Perfect Match

We're excited to announce that we are now Madison's exclusive location for DuBois Formalwear! Did you know that we've partnered with DuBois for over 13 years to help create beautiful weddings? And we're looking forward to many more! Look for fantastic promotions (for weddings and prom!)and a fresh new face to meet and exceed your formalwear needs!

DuBois is a family-run business that truly feels like family and it's DuBois that we trust to make even our own families look their very best! Rosemary's family has been wearing their tuxes for years and looking oh so handsome!
Rosemary's nephew David and his groomsmen this past June all sported beautiful tuxedos from DuBois Formalwear!

Even goofing around, Rosemary's nephew Zane and his cohorts looked fabulous in their DuBois tuxedos last year!

Niece Katharine and nephew-in-law Eli were resplendent on their wedding day three and half years ago.

Tuxedos are not just for weddings! Rosemary's son Jayson sported this handsome look for Prom 2010.

Here's Joel and Jayson dressed in DuBois tuxedos for a television commercial we shot in 2000. Aren't they just adorable? And stylish! Joel, on the left, will be our new tuxedo facilitator! How's that for a title?

Thank You Erica!!

We had the privilege of helping a really wonderful bride, Erica, who has blessed us by posting a link to her wedding photos by KB Image Photography on our Facebook page. One of the few things Laura and I find as thrilling as the opportunity to work with amazing women like Erica is to have awesome customers make awesome posts on our Facebook page! Thank you on both counts Erica. We wish you the very best!!

Congratulations David & Audrey!

As many of you already know, I love to feature photos of our brides and grooms as captured on their wedding day. I never ever get tired of looking at them! Today I have the special privilege of sharing wedding photos of my nephew David and his new wife Audrey. The images were taken by Neil of Front Room Photography and I cannot express how pleased I am with them. Actually, Neil has now photographed the weddings of two of my nephews. I see a growing- and very awesome - trend here! I can't link to their photos yet, but check out the photos on their blog.

Amanda and Zane....again

Generally I don't blog about a bride and groom more than once, but then again, I don't generally get to blog about a bride and groom that happen to be family. My first post had a couple of my own images posted, but finally I can share with you images from Front Room Photography's Neil who did an amazing job at capturing the essence of everyone he photographed. So forgive me if I overindulged a bit in the number of images I've shared with you here, but come on, he's my nephew! Congratulations again Amanda and Zane!

Congratulations Jacqui and John!

Laura and I both so enjoyed getting to know Jacqui as she prepared for her beautiful wedding day. Vibrant, intelligent and beautiful, she's an extraordinary woman that is truly appreciated by her husband, John, which we know because we also had the rare privilege of getting to know him. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day and congratulations!

Photos of Jacqui and John's wedding were taken by one of our favorite photographers, Calfa from Front Room Studios.
