The Art of Weddings: A New Perspective
Laura and I have always felt that there is an unmistakable link between art and weddings. And in a new and unexpected way we find our belief concretely confirmed. Dagny Quisling Myrah is a talented artist native to Madison that found our window display of bridesmaid dresses as an inspiration for the painting: "Ladies of the Evening." While we have received many kind compliments about our window display, never in our wildest dreams did we think it would inspire an artist. Grace Chosy Gallery just blocks away on Monroe Street will feature an exhibit of this painting along with others in the series Night and Day by Dagney Myrah; the opening will be celebrated on the evening of Friday, February 6, from 6pm until 8pm. We encourage anyone with an appreciation for art and beauty to attend! And we thank the artist for the privilege bestowed on our little boutique!

"Suzette" by Lea Ann Belter
Our newest arrival is a sleek little number named "Suzette" by Lea Ann Belter. She's made of yummy silk charmeuse that drapes at the neckline just so and the bias cut of the skirt is flattering and is dotted ever so lightly with tiny little rhinestones along the hem. The double spaghetti straps are beaded with Austrian crystals and add an elegant shimmer to well shaped shoulders and back. But don't take my word for it, come in and see for yourself!

Nicole Miller: Our Newest Designer
We're pleased to announce that we have added bridal and bridesmaid designs from the thoroughly fashionable Nicole Miller to our already amazing line up. There are a couple of outstanding characteristics to Nicole Miller bridal gowns that make them such a welcome addition: the designs we have chosen are made in the USA, they are silk (unless they're metal - no kidding!), they fit marvelously and they are kept in stock so they are perfect for those of you with not a lot of time. They're perfect for less formal weddings and destination weddings, both of which are gaining tremendously in popularity. Also, are priced amazingly well. The bridal gowns shown here range between $595 and $750 making authentic fashion truly obtainable.
The bridesmaid dresses are equally fantastic. Although, I hesitate to pigeon hole them as bridesmaids only. The clean aesthetic, luxurious silk and immediate availability make them perfect for so much more than just bridesmaids - think Spring Gala or other charitable events, music performances or recitals, resort wear, a sophisticated look for prom or a wedding guest. The possibilities are endless.
Congratulations Sarah and Ben!
Sarah and Ben, after getting married in a warm, far-off place, recently held their opulent reception in order to share their joy with their friends and family. Neil and Eron of Front Room Photography captured their special evening and you can view beautiful images on their blog.

Don't worry, we have other colors besides pink! We just love theme windows.

January's Movie of the Month: Ever After
As Laura and I launch our somewhat schmaltzy but ever-so-much fun theme for 2009, Celebrate Cinema!, we agreed that Ever After was the perfect way to begin. This romantic retelling of the classic fairy tale is memorable for many reasons, one being the unexpected message of female empowerment. While indeed under stress, this "Cinderella" is no damsel in distress. And while she is physically beautiful, even more compelling is her inner beauty. Drew Barrymore's "Danielle" is strong, confident, intelligent, a loyal friend, honest and full of integrity, much like the amazing women Laura and I have the privilege of working with every day at Premiere Couture.
If you haven't ever checked the movie out, I suggest you do. For the next couple of weeks I'll post some trivia questions and there will be gifts for those of you who answer correctly.
Trivia Question 1 (two-part answer): What is the name of the book Danielle loses to a fire because of the jealousy of her stepmother and why was it so significant to her? The first person to answer correctly and in person at the bridal expo on Saturday and Sunday - one winner each day - will receive a surprise gift!
Okay, now the even more fun part: The Special. It's a Cinderella story so of course there was an incredible pair of shoes (the exquisite shoes featured in Ever After were designed by Salvatore Ferragamo) so our special absolutely had to be all about shoes! You will receive a free pair of your choice of shoes when you order your bridal gown during the month of January! See? Shopping can be fun!

2009: The Year of the Theme
Laura and I decided that this was a year that we wanted to put a strong emphasis on fun. What better way to emphasize fun than with a schmaltzy theme that will be played on over and over throughout the whole year? So here is our unveiling:
We love movies and bridal fashion so we're combining the two. Each month we'll share a favorite film (and we have them all picked out!) about which we will conduct silly contests, engage in delightful banter, tie in a super fun special and offer a movie-themed gift for each of our 2009 Premiere Couture brides.
We invite you to help us kick off our Celebrate Cinema! theme at the bridal expo this weekend by joining us on the Premiere Couture Red Carpet. Let the fun begin!
