Small town charm

Laura and I are two small town girls; both born and raised and now living in Edgerton. In fact, one reason we love our Monroe Street location is because even though it is in the midst of a much larger city than our home town, it has the feel of a tight knit community. We thoroughly enjoy working in the rich and varied culture of Madison and equally appreciate the simple charm of small town living. Many mini meccas such as ours have little known claims to fame and Edgerton is no exception. One of them is that it is a childhood home of Sterling North, author of the children's classic "Rascal." The Sterling North Society, in an effort to fund the upkeep of his childhood home, hosts the Sterling North Society Talent Show each year, this year being the eighteenth. The talent show offers just what you would expect of such a show and yet much more. It was truly two and half hours well spent. Of course, I admit a bit of a bias as three of the twenty acts were family. So I offer to you those three acts. First, Manifold, a young band comprised of my two eldest sons, two of my nephews and two of their good friends. Second is my perpetually entertaining father, Jim Hodges, aka Tennessee Jim, and the third is my very talented nephew, David Flood, of whom I have posted previous performances. I hope you enjoy!

Another artistic success...

The evening is winding down (and I'm totally updating the blog to give my feet a break!) and I am pleased with its success. Laura is the lifeblood of each of our events as her skillful planning and organization ensures a well-put-together evening. Janet's dresses were gorgeous, of course, the models were stunning and Rejuvenation Spa captured the exact old Hollywood look we love. Donna Sager of Garden Laurels went well beyond expectation with exquisitely lush floral arrangements to which my photos will never do justice. Creative Confection's Alicia Russel wowed us again with yummy delicious cake and Flemings Steakhouse delivered on their promise of a magic evening out. David Flood's smooth guitar music set the perfect mood.Thank you to everyone that participated and made the evening one to remember!

The Art of Weddings

We vow to engage each of your senses in order to inspire you.

You are invited to attend our second annual celebration of the creativity and splendor of today's weddings. "The Art of Weddings" event is concurrent with MMoCA's Gallery Night.

Our casual evening affair, Friday, October 3, from 5pm until 8pm, will offer you the opportunity to meet two of the finest artists in their respective fields - Janet Nelson Kumar, bridal fashion designer, and Neil Kiekhofer, one of Front Room Photography's founders. (Due to a scheduling conflict, Neil will be unable to join us. You will be missed Neil!)

In addition to fine fashion and images, you will also be treated to the artistry of Rejuvenation Spa as they will complete the look of each of our live models with make-up and hair styles inspired by old Hollywood glamour. Speaking of live models, meet Erin Nycz, once our customer, now our friend and a favorite model who appears in many of our photos, including this one.

The mood of Premiere Couture will be enhanced and the models will be adorned with floral delights from Garden Laurels by Sager. But not just a feast for the eyes, the evening will also offer delicious cake from Creative Confections and hors d'oeuvres from Flemings Steakhouse to tantalize your taste buds and the smooth, enchanting sounds of musician David Flood, for the pleasure of your ears.

As if all of that were not enough, the event will also offer free gifts to the first 25 brides of 2009 and a chance for anyone who attends to win one of five $100 gift certificates!

So come this Friday evening to an event to remember, "The Art of Weddings."

I just have to brag

My nephew, David Flood, participated in Fine Arts Festival in Waupaca on Saturday. It is essentially a talent competition sponsored by the Assemblies of God Church in which approximately 60,000 teens nationwide participate. This is his last year to participate and he did extremely well - to the point of moving at least one judge to tears - and being advanced to the national competition in Charlotte, NC, this summer in three catagories. The best thing about David, though, is that he takes his music seriously but not so much himself. I am a proud aunt and so, in that spirit, I post this video of one of his performances.

A Premiere Couture Video Presentation

I'm playing around with making videos for us and here's my first attempt. This photo shoot took place at the Memorial Union with Front Room lending their talents. Rejuvenation Spa graciously provided hair and make-up. The beautiful guitar music is by my nephew, David Flood.

"The Art of Weddings" is a success!!

Thank you to everyone who attended and assited with our event - it was a huge success!! I was unable to attend (and completely bummed by that), but Laura kept it all together and when it wasn't busy she snapped a few photos for us which I have posted here. I want to specially thank Katey, Katja, Liz and Beth for lending us their beauty for the evening. Thank you to the other businesses whose contribution made for a memorable evening: Front Room Photography, Rejuvenation Spa, Fleming's Steakhouse, The Flower Market and David Flood.

Front Room's photos look spectacular. They are part of our permanent collection so stop by and see them any time!

Our beautiful "live mannequins" drew a lot of attention!

David Flood did a wonderful job creating a pleasant atmosphere with his original guitar compositions. He's available to play music for your ceremony; you can call us for more information.

Katey, our new employee was not only a model but one of the artists! She created the sandwich board signs for us. You can look forward to seeing more of her signs in the future.

Even Beth's dog knows beauty when he sees it!

"The Art of Weddings"

We are hosting a fantastic event this Friday evening during Gallery Night celebrating "The Art of Weddings" and we hope you'll join us. There will be live models - one of whom is our very own new employee Katey - in our windows instead of the usual mannequins. (We've always wanted to give that a try!) Rejuvenation Spa is going to have some creative fun with our models' hair and make-up - no ordinary up-dos on this night! Front Room Photography has provided some marvelous enlargements from our recent photo shoot that's featured all over our website - they truly live up to the promise of capturing "The Art of the Moment." One of our lovely 2006 brides, Jamae, will be showing off floral arrangements from the Flower Market and Fleming's Steakhouse will be providing delicious hors d'oeuvres. To cap the evening off, my nephew, David Flood, will create the perfect ambiance with his original guitar music which is perfect for wedding ceremonies. He just turned 18 but you'd never know it from the level of maturity and professionalism that he brings to his music. It's all together possible that I may be just a bit biased, but if you come and listen, I think you'll agree.

And if all of that wasn't enough reason to attend, the first 25 brides of 2008 that attend will receive a special gift and special offers and everyone who attends will be eligible to win a $500 gift certificate that can be used for anything from Premiere Couture!
